Calculate your body fat percentage using the official U.S. Army standard
Measure your body fat according to military standards
How to take measurements according to Army regulations
Measure the neck circumference at a point just below the larynx (Adam's apple). The tape should be placed perpendicular to the long axis of the neck.
For males: Measure the waist circumference at the navel level (belly button).
For females: Measure the waist circumference at the point of minimal abdominal circumference, usually located about halfway between the navel and the lower end of the sternum.
Measure the hip circumference while facing the subject's right side by placing the tape around the hips so that it passes over the greatest protrusion of the gluteal muscles (buttocks).
Understanding the Army's body fat standards
The Army Body Composition Program (ABCP) is designed to ensure that all soldiers maintain a level of physical readiness that enhances their combat effectiveness. Soldiers who exceed the screening table weight must undergo a body fat assessment.
Note: Soldiers who exceed these standards may be enrolled in the Army Body Composition Program and are required to make satisfactory progress toward meeting the standards.
